The Ulta Beauty Summer 2027 DREAM program is structured around more than completing assignments for one team. Interns receive hands-on experience within their function, exposure to other areas of the company, professional development and networking opportunities, and the chance to present project findings and recommendations to leadership.
A strong internship should give you something concrete to talk about when you interview for your next one. Working on a defined project, collaborating across functions and eventually presenting what you learned gives you much more material for your resume and future interviews than simply saying you “assisted” a team for the summer.
Summer 2027 Corporate Internships
Merchandising Intern, Wellness
This is one of the strongest options for students interested in buying, merchandising, retail strategy or category management.
The intern will work with Ulta Beauty’s wellness merchandising team and gain exposure to brand relationships, sales reporting, category performance and the business decisions behind how products are positioned and sold.
You’ll also see metrics including sales, productivity and inventory turn being used to make merchandising decisions.

One thing I would pay particular attention to is that several corporate postings require interns to be local to the Chicago area or able to commute to Ulta Beauty’s Bolingbrook office during designated corporate weeks.

What You’ll Actually Learn
One of the reasons I like programs with this many functions is that they can help you understand where you fit within an industry.
You might know you want to work in beauty and still have no idea whether that means merchandising, e-commerce, marketing, strategy, product, analytics or operations.
An internship gives you the chance to learn the function you were hired into, but a structured program with cross-functional exposure can also help you understand what everyone around you does.
Sometimes figuring out what you don’t want to do is just as useful as confirming what you do.
Maria’s Career Tip
With a program this large, don’t apply to five completely unrelated internships simply because they’re all at Ulta Beauty.
Start with the work.
Read the responsibilities for the roles that interest you and ask yourself which one gives you the strongest answer to: “Why this internship?”
Then look at your resume.
Your coursework, projects, campus involvement, retail experience, part-time jobs and previous internships should help tell the same story.
You don’t need to have already done the exact job. You do want the recruiter to understand why your experiences have led you toward this particular kind of work.
That connection is much stronger than “I’ve always loved beauty.”
