FP Movement Summer 2027 Internship Program

FP Movement Summer 2027 Internships: 3 Opportunities Now Open

FP Movement has opened applications for its Summer 2027 internship program, with opportunities in buying, planning and allocation, and apparel design.

Part of the URBN portfolio, FP Movement is Free People’s performance and activewear brand, combining fashion with categories built around movement, fitness and wellness. For students interested in the business or design of activewear, these internships offer three very different ways into the brand.

Applications are open now, but there is an important deadline to know: October 30, 2026 at 5pm ET.

FP Movement Summer 2027 Internship Opportunities

Buying Intern

Career area: Buying
Open to: Rising seniors, meaning current undergraduate juniors

This internship supports FP Movement’s performance buying team across product selection, trend research, samples, vendor communication and reporting. Interns attend buying meetings, research new products and trends and gain exposure to the product lifecycle and buying’s role within it.

Applicants should have a basic understanding of retail math and proficiency in Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Retail experience is preferred.

A Trend Concept Board is required with the application. Candidates must identify three to five activewear fashion trends they see emerging for the FP Movement customer for Fall 2027 and present them in a visually compelling concept board.

Planning & Allocation Intern

Career area: Planning / Allocation

This is the analytical opportunity within the FP Movement group. Interns support inventory and financial planning through sales reporting, style-level plans, merchandise allocation and tracking, while partnering with buying and merchandising teams.

Candidates should have a strong command of retail math and statistical analysis and be proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook. The role also includes exposure to OTB, strategy and hindsight meetings, giving interns a closer look at how product performance influences future inventory decisions.

Apparel Design Intern

Career area: Fashion Design
Concentrations: Performance Studio and Concept Design
Field of study: Fashion Design or a related field

Interns support the development of seasonal FP Movement collections from concept through final sample, working across trend research, mood boards, color palettes, sketching, CADs, technical packages, fabric and trim sourcing and fittings.

Applicants should be proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, with strong sketching and visual communication skills. Experience with CLO 3D or similar software is a plus.

Unlike Buying, a design project is not automatically due with the initial application. Candidates will be notified by November 4 if FP Movement requires them to complete one, and that project will then be required for consideration.

Choosing the Right FP Movement Internship

The three internships lead into very different areas of the business.

Buying is the strongest fit for students interested in product, trends and assortment building. You’ll still work with numbers, but the role sits closer to selecting and developing what the customer ultimately sees.

Planning & Allocation is much more analytical. If you like retail math, sales performance, inventory and understanding why certain products are working, this is the clearest match.

Apparel Design is for students already developing technical and creative design skills who want experience specifically within performance and activewear.

One detail matters here: URBN recommends applying to only one internship. Don’t automatically choose the title that sounds most familiar. Read the responsibilities and requirements closely and apply to the role that best matches the experience you can actually demonstrate.

Maria’s Career Tip

With only three FP Movement internships, choosing the right one should be relatively straightforward. Pay attention to what each application is asking you to prove.

Buying wants evidence that you understand the customer and future product trends. Planning & Allocation wants evidence that you’re comfortable with numbers, analysis and retail math. Apparel Design wants evidence of your creative and technical design ability.

That distinction should show up in your application too. Your resume, portfolio or concept board should make it immediately clear why the role you chose makes sense for you.
