Program Coordinator – Summer Contract

Deadline to apply: April 2, 2024
Compensation: $21 per hour
Timeline: 30 hours per week

All candidates should have an interest or passion for sustainable fashion and are required to be based in Canada.

Fashion Takes Action is currently seeking a summer student to support FTA’s work in a variety of ways. This position will support a range of programming including:

Building e-newletters, social media content ideas and development and occasional blog writing

Supporting the work of the Canadian Circular Textiles Consortium and its projects

Taking meeting minutes, coordinating meetings, developing contacts


  • Build time management, teamwork and communications skills by supporting FTA’s Communications Specialist in efforts to raise awareness for various programs related to the environmental and social impacts of the clothing and textile industry 
  • Increase community management skills by engaging in our social communities on IG, FB, TikTok 
  • Develop research skills by contributing to FTA’s monthly newsletters deployed through Mailchimp 
  • Develop communications skills when sharing social assets with promotional partners 
  • Build wordpress knowledge by updating website content and blog posts, as required 
  • Build resource development skills through support of FTA’s youth education program: My Clothes My world 
  • Build research skills by documenting educational programming related to the environment and climate change, delivered in elementary and high schools across Canada, as well as related curriculum connections 
  • Build confidence in outreach and communications through the generation of FTA’s global education partnership database 
  • Build research skills, and learn about the circular economy of textiles in Canada
  • Improve research, qualitative and quantitative analysis and identifying/assessing emerging issues, trends, risks, impacts and developments in the fashion industry 
  • Build administrative skills through support of key staff in meetings (ie minutes, invitations) 


  • Completed, or working towards, a university degree in a relevant field
  • Proactive self-starter who is set up to work independently from home 
  • Highly social media literate and adept at all platforms 
  • Ability to understand trends in the digital content and social media space 
  • Demonstrated interest in, and curiosity around, sustainable fashion, ethics and the environment 
  • Detail oriented, with exceptional organizational and time management skills 
  • Strong capabilities in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Suite, Hootsuite, Zoom, Mailchimp, WordPress
  • Experience using Canva an asset 
  • Strong research and dissemination skills 
  • Good verbal communication skills 
  • Able to take direction and not afraid to ask questions for clarity
  • Ability to communicate in French is also an asset
