Everything we know about the Estée Lauder Summer 2027 Internship Program

The Estée Lauder Summer 2027 Internship Program is open in New York City.

If you’ve ever walked through a beauty floor and seen Estée Lauder, MAC, Clinique, Jo Malone London, La Mer or Tom Ford Beauty, you’ve already seen just a fraction of The Estée Lauder Companies’ portfolio.

Behind those brands is a global business spanning everything from product development and packaging to creative, communications, finance, marketing and more. And for Summer 2027, college students have the chance to get inside that business through The Lauder Summer Internship Program.

Seven internship opportunities are currently open, each offering a different entry point into the company. Some of the job titles are broader than they initially appear, too, so it’s worth looking beyond the name of the internship before deciding which one fits you best.

Here’s what’s currently available and what you should know before applying.

PROGRAM DETAILS:
Program: Lauder Summer 2027 Internship Program
Locations: Primarily New York City, with R&D and Packaging based in Melville, New York
Open to: Current undergraduate juniors / rising seniors
Expected graduation: May or June 2028
Pay: $25–$33 per hour
Program start: June 2027

One thing to know as you look through the openings: several of these postings represent multiple potential teams or specialties. Read beyond the internship title before deciding where your experience fits best.

Marketing Intern

Career area: Marketing
Location: New York City
Open to: Current undergraduate juniors graduating May/June 2028
Pay: $25–$33/hour

ELC’s Marketing internship can include placements across Corporate Marketing, Consumer Insights, Customer Relationship Marketing, Digital Consumer Engagement and Marketing Analytics. That makes this a fairly broad application, and your eventual experience could look very different depending on the team.

This one makes the most sense for students who can connect their experience to areas such as consumer behavior, digital marketing, CRM or analytics. ELC specifically lists Business Marketing, Digital Marketing and Consumer Analytics among its desired majors and also looks for previous experience in a fast-paced corporate environment.

Creative Intern

Career area: Creative / Design
Location: New York City
Open to: Current undergraduate juniors graduating May/June 2028
Pay: $25–$33/hour

This posting covers several different creative tracks, including Visual Merchandising, Store Design, Package Design, Copywriting, Social Media Content Design and Graphic Design.

Interns may contribute to concept and content development, visualize store environments or help determine how products are merchandised. ELC is looking for candidates with experience or knowledge in areas such as graphic design, illustration and video editing, along with Adobe Creative Suite and Mac OSX. Desired academic backgrounds include BFA programs, Graphic or Industrial Design and Digital Media.

If you’re applying here, your portfolio is going to matter. Make sure the work you choose actually supports the creative track you’re hoping to enter.

Communications Intern

Career area: Communications / PR / Social Media
Location: New York City
Open to: Current undergraduate juniors graduating May/June 2028
Pay: $25–$33/hour

The Communications internship includes potential roles in Public Relations, Social Media and Digital Content Management.

Depending on placement, interns may work with digital agencies, monitor social conversations, brainstorm content, analyze social media reporting, support corporate campaigns, maintain website content and help compile press coverage. ELC lists Communications, PR concentrations and Digital Marketing among its desired majors.

This is worth reading carefully if you’re interested in communications because there is a meaningful difference between PR, social and digital content work. Your resume, portfolio and examples should reflect the area you actually want to pursue.

Human Resources Intern

Career area: Human Resources
Location: New York City
Open to: Current undergraduate juniors graduating May/June 2028
Pay: $25–$33/hour

ELC divides this internship into two potential areas: HR Business Partner/Employee Services and Centers of Excellence.

Depending on placement, projects can touch performance and talent management, onboarding, employee relations, payroll administration, organizational design and effectiveness, talent, total rewards and HR operations. Previous corporate internship experience is preferred, and experience with Oracle, Taleo or another applicant tracking system is considered a plus.

For students considering HR, this is a useful distinction. An HRBP-oriented placement gives you a different view of the function than working within a specialized Center of Excellence, so read those potential placements closely before tailoring your application.

Research & Development and Packaging Intern

Career area: R&D / Packaging
Location: Melville, New York
Open to: Current undergraduate juniors graduating May/June 2028
Pay: $25–$33/hour

This internship is more specialized than several of the NYC opportunities. Interns work on high-priority projects within R&D and gain exposure to research, equipment and technical skills training while collaborating across teams.

ELC specifically requires applicants to be studying Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Package Engineering, Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Polymer Science, Engineering and Management or Materials Science.

This is also the role where location matters. It is based in Melville, New York, rather than New York City, so factor that into your application decision.

Finance Intern

Career area: Finance
Location: New York City
Open to: Current undergraduate juniors graduating May/June 2028
Pay: $25–$33/hour

Finance interns can be placed across Global Brand Finance and Strategy, North America Regional Finance and Strategy, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis, Global Value Creation, E-Commerce and Online Finance, R&D Finance, Supply Chain Finance and Investor Relations.

ELC is looking for students studying Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Math or Engineering, with strong analytical skills and Excel proficiency. Interns work on projects tied to the Global Finance function and strategic business priorities while gaining exposure to other departments across the company. Estée Lauder Careers

Technology, Data & Analytics Intern

Which Estée Lauder 2027 Internship Should You Apply For?

With seven internships open across Marketing, Creative, Communications, Finance, Human Resources, Research & Development and Packaging, and Technology, Data & Analytics, there are several very different ways into The Estée Lauder Companies this summer.

Start with the work you actually want to do.

If you’re interested in consumer behavior, digital strategy or analytics, look closely at Marketing. If your strengths are visual, design-focused or portfolio-based, Creative may be the stronger fit. Communications covers areas including PR, social media and digital content, while Finance and Human Resources offer opportunities within the business functions that support the company and its brands.

Students with more technical or specialized academic backgrounds should pay particular attention to the final two opportunities. Research & Development and Packaging is geared toward areas such as engineering, chemistry, biological sciences and materials science, while Technology, Data & Analytics includes potential placements spanning AI, data science, cybersecurity, software and cloud engineering, UX, e-commerce technology and more.

And remember that the internship title is only the starting point. Several of these postings include multiple potential teams and specialties underneath them. Read the full description before applying so you understand where your skills and interests could fit within the larger function.

What You’ll Actually Gain From the Estee Lauder Summer 2027 Internship Program

One of the more valuable parts of this program is the opportunity to see how your individual function operates within a much larger global company.

Across the seven postings, interns are expected to contribute to projects tied to real business priorities while learning from teams within their respective functions. Depending on your placement, that could mean working on consumer insights or digital engagement in Marketing, developing creative work for a brand, supporting financial analysis, contributing to product and packaging development, or seeing how data and technology support ELC’s brands, consumers and broader business strategy.

The program also includes opportunities for mentorship, professional development, networking and exposure to employees and leaders across the company.

For someone still figuring out exactly where they want to build a career, that exposure matters. You’re gaining experience within one function, but you’re also getting a closer look at how that work connects to the rest of the business.

Maria’s Career Tip

Seven open internships at the same company can make it tempting to apply to everything that sounds remotely interesting. I wouldn’t.

Instead, open the roles you’re considering side by side and look at the specific teams and specialties listed underneath each title. Marketing could mean Consumer Insights or CRM. Creative could mean Visual Merchandising, Package Design or Social Media Content Design. Technology, Data & Analytics could take you toward AI, cybersecurity, UX, e-commerce technology or cloud engineering.

Then ask yourself: Which of these can I make the strongest case for right now?

Look at your coursework, internships, part-time jobs, campus involvement, technical skills and portfolio projects. You don’t need to have done the exact job before, but there should be a clear connection between something you’ve already done and what the team is asking for.

That connection is what should guide both the internship you choose and the story you tell in your application.
