Dubai Fashion Week Dazzles with Carolina Herrera Show and Array of Talent
Dubai Fashion Week (DFW) has kicked off this October in glamorous style, cementing the Middle Eastern hub as a rising force in global fashion. The biannual event runs from October 8-15, 2023 at Dubai Design District, spotlighting both regional talents and international powerhouses.
As this year’s esteemed guest of honor, iconic New York fashion label Carolina Herrera is undoubtedly the highlight. The brand’s creative director Wes Gordon unveiled the Spring/Summer 2024 collection exclusively crafted for DFW, preceded by a lavish dinner in his honor.
Beyond the Herrera spectacle, DFW’s seven-day calendar is packed with over 25 designers representing more than 12 countries. Local labels like The Giving Movement and Dima Ayad showcase alongside international names like Valentin Yudashkin and Rizman Ruzaini.
The shows kick off October 10th with sustainability-focused Thai brand Pipatchara and Dubai-based Lili Blanc. Regional standouts Lama Jouni, Mrs Keepa and more also unveil new collections through October 15th.
In a groundbreaking move, DFW introduces the first Mega Showroom this year – a shoppable designer pop-up open to all. Located in Dubai Design District, the B2B concept allows attendees to browse and purchase directly from emerging talents.
The Arab Fashion Council co-founded Dubai Fashion Week in 2015 with Dubai Design District to nurture regional creativity. Now in its second official edition, DFW has cemented itself as the Middle East’s premier fashion event.
Dubai provides an optimal platform for global fashion to intersect with regional influences. The aim is to propel Dubai’s reputation as a hub for multicultural talent. As Senior VP of Dubai Design District Khadija Al Bastaki noted, “With esteemed brands like Carolina Herrera stepping in, Dubai Fashion Week is a testament to the burgeoning creativity and luxury in our region.”

The jewel in DFW’s crown: Carolina Herrera’s Dazzling Show
The undeniable highlight of Dubai Fashion Week 2022 is New York fashion icon Carolina Herrera as the guest of honor. The globally renowned luxury brand is renowned for exquisite femininity and refinement under the creative direction of Wes Gordon.
Gordon worked closely with the Arab Fashion Council and Dubai Design District to present Carolina Herrera’s latest collection with a showstopper runway spectacle. He shared: “Showcasing our Spring Summer Collection from New York in Dubai is truly a privilege. Our goal is to present an unparalleled experience for Dubai’s fashion community and the Arab Fashion Council.”
The festivities began October 8th with an exclusive dinner in Gordon’s honor, welcoming fashion’s elite. This prelude set the stage for the dramatic reveal of the ready-to-wear Spring/Summer 2024 collection on October 9th.
Every detail of the Herrera show provides an immersive taste of the brand’s elegant aesthetic, from the location to production. This rare showcase cements Dubai Fashion Week’s rising prominence and Carolina Herrera’s trendsetting vision under Gordon.
Beyond the runway, Wes Gordon hosted a trunk show for top clients to view the SS24 collection up close. The full experience reflects Carolina Herrera’s commitment to crafting an exceptional event for the regional and global fashion community.
Dubai Fashion Week represents a critical platform for brands to debut their work in the Middle East. Through Carolina Herrera’s showstopping debut and Wes Gordon’s visit, DFW has underscored its influence as a nexus bridging western and regional fashion worlds.

Dubai: An Ascending Global Fashion Stronghold
Dubai Fashion Week demonstrates how the futuristic city has become a hub for multicultural creativity. Once an unlikely contender, Dubai’s strategic location and investment have allowed its fashion industry to flourish.
DFW was founded to provide a far-reaching platform for regional talents. In just its second official edition, the event has attracted global juggernauts like Carolina Herrera. This proves Dubai’s increasing clout as brands eye the city for expansion.
By bridging western heavyweights with breakthrough regional labels, DFW bolsters Dubai’s reputation as a nucleus for fashion. The glitzy shows and productions add to the vibrant creative energy attracting international names.
Strategic government initiatives have accelerated Dubai’s fashion industry growth. Dubai Design District (d3) provides facilities and opportunities for designers to develop and connect with global markets. DDF also co-founded DFW with the Arab Fashion Council as a vehicle for regional exposure.
With state-of-the-art venues and financial incentives, Dubai empowers creativity. For global brands, the futuristic city provides fertile new ground to stage captivating shows and expand clientele. As Carolina Herrera’s DFW debut proved, Dubai offers an optimal link between eastern heritage and western fashion houses.
Dubai Fashion Week is both a reflection of the city’s ascension and accelerator of its future goals. By drawing international eyes, DFW helps Dubai strengthen its reputation as a style power player. Expect the glittering shows to drive continued cultural and economic gains.

What’s Next for Dubai Fashion Week?
Following the resounding success of 2022, the future looks bright for Dubai Fashion Week’s evolution. As DFW founder Jacob Abrian noted, “This second edition is a momentous occasion proving that anything is possible.”
The debut of novel concepts like the shoppable Mega Showroom indicate DFW will continue pioneering inventive formats. Expect expanded experiential shows and non-traditional approaches.
Already DFW has announced Valentino will assume the coveted guest of honor title in Spring 2024. More renowned global houses will likely clamor for future spotlight roles.
DFW’s growth will mirror Dubai’s projected fashion industry expansion. Analysts predict Dubai’s apparel and footwear market alone could reach $43 billion by 2022. DFW provides an ideal springboard for this boom.
Most importantly, DFW will nurture rising regional talent and provide increased global exposure. The diverse designer roster will expand as Dubai’s multicultural community grows.
Dubai Fashion Week has come a long way from its 2015 inception. But if its spectacular 2022 edition signals anything, the best is yet to come. With Carolina Herrera dazzling audiences this year, the stage is set for Dubai Fashion Week to shine even brighter on the global stage.
